CIRI Webinar: Sampling Wildfire Smoke Residues

Presenters: Franco Seif, PE, and Joe Spurgeon, Ph.D.

Date: Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. EDT

From property damage to impacts on human health, wildfires can wreak havoc on environments up to several hundred miles from the source. As of Sept. 14, 2021, the National Interagency Fire Center reported that almost 45,000 wildfires had occurred in the U.S., covering a total of 5.6 million acres of land.

With the number of wildfires expected to increase, learning how to effectively sample and characterize wildfire smoke residues can improve remediation and cleanup to reduce occupant exposure and health risks.

In this webinar, presenters will look at different sampling techniques, including wet wipe and tape lift methods for evaluating the impact of wildfire smoke residues. Presenters will also discuss factors that can impact the evaluation of wildfire smoke residue.

In this webinar, you will learn:

    • How to compare the relative performance of the wet wipe and tape lift sampling methods
    • Factors that can affect the evaluation of the impact of wildfire smoke residues
    • Current topics, including background levels and the use of conditional areas

The cost of this webinar is $29.50 for CIRI members/$59 for non-members. Want to become a member of CIRI? Click here to sign up now.
